The dining experience on the Mariner of the Seas is a breathtaking one as well as being a true culinary delight. There are three main dining rooms on this ship, all interconnected by grand staircases. They appear to be in the same huge room, but are on different levels and each has its own kitchen and decor. The menu changes on a daily basis with plenty of dishes to choose from for every meal of the day. Children often tend to be picky eaters, but they love choosing their favourites from the kid’s menu. Those watching their weight can select from the spa menu and there is a vegetarian menu for those looking for meatless dishes.
Although the option does exist to enjoy traditional dining in the main dining rooms with assigned seating, you can also enjoy flexible dining. On the Mariner of the Seas, you can opt for My Time Dining in which you just show up for dinner at any time between 6:00 and 9:30 P.M. or make reservations for the time that suits you best. ![]() If you like to try something different, but no less elegant for dinner on any night of your cruise, you have two alternative restaurants to choose from. Both the Chops Grille and the Portofino do require reservations and charge a sitting fee per person. The Chops Grille specializes in meat and seafood dishes, while the Portofino is the Royal Caribbean’s signature Italian restaurant. You never have to dress up to eat at the Windjammer Cafe, which is the casual buffet venue on the Mariner of the Seas. Along with the spectacular views, you have many food stations to choose from for every meal, afternoon tea and midnight snacks. This restaurant is open almost all the time, closing only for an hour or so in between meals to prepare the dishes. Specializing in Asian cuisine, the Jade Restaurant is another dining venue you can choose on this ship. It is open from 6 to 9 p.m. and reservations are not required, nor is there any extra cost for your meal. Burgers, fries, milkshakes and other favourites are the specialty of the house at Johnny Rockets where you will feel as if you have stepped back in time. The decor is that of a diner in any US city during the 1950’s. As you engage in shopping or strolling along the Royal Promenade, stop into the Cafe Promenade for a cup of coffee or other beverage, and have a slice of pizza or a mouth watering pastry. Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Shop is also located in this area where you can have a scoop of two of your favourite flavours. Room service is always available on the Mariner of the Seas because the kitchen never closes. Whether you want a full meal or a light snack you only have to call from your stateroom to have the food delivered to your door. |
